PWD notification obligations

Under European law, employers are generally required to register their employees’ postings with local labour authorities in the destination country, i.e. to submit a PWD notification. Crime

The crime rate in Cyprus is low. Pickpocketing, handbag theft, and trick theft do occur occasionally, particularly in tourist-heavy areas.

  • Keep money, identification, driver's license, and other important documents secure; consider saving electronic copies/photos. This will facilitate the issuance of replacement documents in case of theft or loss.
  • Prefer cashless payments and do not take unnecessary valuables with you.
  • Do not bring valuables to the beach.
  • Be particularly attentive in large crowds, such as at airports and train stations, and watch your belongings.

Domestic political situation

The Republic of Cyprus is a full member of the European Union, but the island remains effectively divided into two parts. The internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus exercises actual control only in the southern region, while the northern part is separated by the demarcation line known as the Green Line. This northern area is recognized solely by Turkey, which occupies it as the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus."
